hi livejournal.
i have to admit something. . . i am kind of addicted to the show gossip girl. lamerzz, i know. but a couple weekends ago, i was hungover and laying in bed all day and there was a gossip girl marathon. i watched an episode. then i watched another. and another. and another. now, apparently i've watched the entire season. and what am i doing right now. . . watching gossip girl.
i have every intention to go to bed early. i've been so drained since we had our last derby match on sunday, then practice on monday AND tuesday. it was great though, cause i played more than i ever have in a game. AND i got sent to the penalty box!! whoa! we kicked ass, further securing our spot in the championship (NOTE: the hell's belles vs. the double crossers, Nov 4th, 6pm, COME! i have tickets!)
i'm getting so much better at skating, which has really made derby so much more fun- i absolutely LOVE those girls. t-bone and i actually gushed to eachother about how awesome we were for nearly fifteen minutes. went to the afterparty for "two" beers, had waayy more and ended up across the street at the "stoli hotel" where i tried to get everyone shots of whiskey. uh-oh! ha, STOLI HOTEL. it was sweet though cause we walked up in our derby gear and they said "oh, are you rollergirls? come in!" drinks were complimentary, so of course i got some kind of fancy martini. the place was crazy though- they had lots of pseudo bedrooms, dudes walking around in their undies, a huge dancefloor and even a . . . spa?
we are hosting a fundraiser at 5-star on saturday. athena and riley are coming over and we're going to get zombified- - - my dress from the zombie shoot in vegas is so awesome that i MUST wear it again. now i just need my own personal makeup artist!
hmm what else now that i'm braindumping?
the J.O.B is ok. blaaahhhhhh. the boys moved to NYC. errca and i are going there for a long weekend in Nov for our birthdays. we want to get tattoos, but we're not sure what to get- i vote unicorns! maybe it could be chasing after the "rabbit" on my arm that is the upper peninsula? MAYBE. . .

1:04 pm - 4 day weekend what what!
|
i called in on friday because i needed a "mental health day." between working and derby i feel like i have limited time to get things done and i was working myself up over it and and basically just stressing myself out. it was totally worth calling in- errca and i got brunch at DODO, i went with her to get tattooed, we took a trip to kohls, i got a massage and then i had dinner with the girls + a few others.
the rest of the weekend has been pure insanity. . . lots of drinking. more drinking. and more drinking. met up with some derby peeps for kickball yesterday. hoosier showed up with PBR tall boys and the debauchery began. we relocated to a BBQ back in the neighborhood where ms. val capone grilled us up some goodies and we played flippy cup all night long. we were coming up with the best team names (team bloody tampon, team [kill] my little pony, team lil flip. ha!) it was good to hang out with the girls off skates, and of course i was having so much fun, i didn't get home until 4am. now i'm feeling worthless. . .
i'm going on detox effective today through June 16th.
someone with a "private" number keeps calling me. at like 5:30 in the morning. . . grr.

a testament to not being able to read directions and/or measure: i have bronchitis. my cough medicine says to take 1 teaspoon 4 times a day. i've been taking 1 tablespoon 4 times a day. side effects of this medicine are drowsiness, blurry vision, and dizzyness. i've fallen asleep before 9pm everday this week. . . no wonder.
derby has been kicking my a$$. i'm feeling a little discouraged. discouraged about lots of things generally. maybe its just because i'm sick. maybe not.
oh, i figured out my derby name. get it?

well. . . i made it.
after a hellaciously hot day of moving, i'm here. in my new home, chicago.
i had completely forgotten how frickin cute my aparment was. what i didn't know was that all of the apartments in the building share a common deck with grills and chairs (in addition to our own balconies) oh so melrose place.
my bike already suffered minor injuries when the chain broke as errca and i were headed to club foot. i took it down to the bike shop by the blue line and the man behind the counter made me promise to not put any more $$ into my bike. this bike has been brought back from the graveyard. . . i hope it lasts me. my street is kindof a funny alley thing and its just weird and i think i may be a bit scared to walk down it at night? maybe? no problems as of yet. although i did see a man biking with a 40. nice.
i start my job in 11 days. this time of year always seems so strange to me because i'm finally done with school (forever this time) and now have i so much time on my hands (especially since the chicago sun wakes me up at 8:30am). it makes me realize how many hobbies i gave up when i started grad school (and now how lazy i am). i finally filled my fridge with groceries and i'm powered up from a chai i got at milk and honey. i really should go check out the Y and see if want to transfer my membership and i need to buy curtains, but i'm kind of liking my quiet apartment. it makes me want to nap.
i just smelled something burning and it appears that the church (or something near the church) at noble & chestnut is on fire. or maybe its just people BBQ-ing at the park? if thats the case, its one huge BBQ.

packing sucks bad.
i don't want to take too much with me for fear of having too much "stuff".
however, i think i *should* just take everything for fear of having to move things myself at a later date. like sweaters for example. i have lots of them. its not winter yet, but it will be. do i take them now cause i'll have people to help me carry them up to my third floor apartment OR do i wait. i'm sure i'll make it home before then and can take a carload of "winter-items" back with me.
boooooooo. making decisions blowzzzzzzz.

i'm moving.
july 1st, to chicago.
i scored myself a sweet-ass apartment today, right off chicago avenue, a few blocks from the blue line. 2 big bedrooms. deck. lots of windows. 3rd floor. above a posh bar. this place is classy. the entrance looks completely sketch, but once you step in, it is frickin amazing. it was a bit more than what i wanted to spend, but i figure that i could always find a roommate if it gets to be too much (since the bedrooms are HUGE!!)
i cannot even tell you how excited i am to finally have a place of my own!! i'm 4 blocks in one direction from errca/aaron/dave and 4 blocks in the other direction from christopher. my new bff prince$$ pottymouth is so close too!
the only unfortunate thing is that i have absolutely no furniture. i'm just going to splurge and buy lots of things from ikea &/or the sketchy furniture stores on milwaukee avenue. oh, and there is no A/C either (which is fine with me, since i SWEAR that i'm allergic to it)
there is only one word to describe the way i feel right now: YAY!!!

the first song i played tonight was for my friend mo, who gratiously drew me a diagram of why AC/DC is the best band ever. although i'm not much for AC/DC his story had me hooked and i had to play them.
i also discovered: half-handed cloud. sleep out. kickball.
i've also discovered that i absolutely love PICTIONARY.
today i'm in chicago. in two days i'm in seattle. and in a week i'll be in aruba. i'm watching soap operas at errca's and waiting for jen to get out of her interview so we can go chill in the windy city, which in fact is quite windy today.
